Small plea to podcasters; Crank up the volume, we old geezers can’t hear your (probably) quality content.
I’m getting close to 30 years old and apparently my hearing is already failing. Even if I crank the volume on my iPod up to max it’s near impossible to hear what’s being said on the podcasts I follow. Unless ofcourse I’m located in a totally quiet room, which is far from my common listening environment.
TWiT gets audio quality and volume right. The podcasts published by the danish public radio do as well.
I’m close to giving up on podcasts. I frankly don’t see the point of subscribing when I can’t hear what’s being said and I really want to be cool and down with the young podcast-listening whippersnappers.
Amen! I’m 23yrs old which is a little less than 30 ;) and even I have trouble listening to some of the podcasts I subscribe to. I shouldn’t have concentrate on hearing what they say.
Like you said though, TWIT has got it right and is a real pleasure to listen to!
My workaround for this “bug” was buying new earplugs (Koss The Plug)
Amen^2! Most of my podcast consumption happens while commuting. While many podcasts have good levels for indoor listening, they just don’t cut the mustard if you stick them on an mp3 player and listen on the move.
One of the ways I got the levels just right on The C64 Take-away was test-driving (litterally) before publishing. Having the MP3 playing on ones iPod while biking through inner-city traffic is a pretty good way to check if the levels are okay or not. =)
